The Shadow Proves the Sunshine

"Oh Lord, why did you forsake me?
Oh Lord, don't be far away away
Storm clouds gathering beside me
Please Lord, don't look the other way

How many times do we cry out like this,
lost, confused, broken.

But are we really forsaken? Have we really been forgotten?
Aren't we told that
"God causes all things to work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose"? (Romans 8:28)

So then why are we downcast when our source of light is up?
Even in the darkness, know, the shadow proves the sunshine.
know that all things are according to plan, as much as our minds may not understand at the moment, and remember there is a greater purpose in all things, even in the bad.

So close your eyes once and just listen.
Make this your simple prayer for the day.
shine on me, that i may know how the shadow proves the sunshine.
how my own shadows prove the sunshine.
